Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 4–6 slices provolone cheese
- 4–6 soft rolls
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, mustard
Instructions
- Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Cook the Steak: Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the steak to the other side. Cook until browned and cooked to your desired doneness, about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Season: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix everything together.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Preheat the broiler. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and toast for 1-2 minutes. Remove from the oven and top each roll with a slice of provolone cheese. Return to the oven and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the Toppings: Pile the steak and vegetable mixture onto the rolls. Add your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and mustard.
- Serve: Cut the sandwiches in half and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use Thinly Sliced Steak: Thinly sliced steak cooks quickly and evenly. You can ask your butcher to slice it for you or do it yourself at home.
- Adjust the Seasoning: Taste the steak and vegetable mixture as it cooks and adjust the seasoning as needed. You might want to add more salt, pepper, or other spices to suit your taste.
- Toast the Rolls: Toasting the rolls adds a nice crunch and helps keep the sandwich from getting soggy.
- Customize the Toppings: Feel free to add your favorite toppings like avocado, pickles, or hot sauce.
