  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken strips and buttermilk. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare the Batter: In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is fully coated.
  4. Fry the Chicken: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lime juice, hot sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or the microwave. Fill each tortilla with a piece of fried chicken, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro, red onion, and avocado (if using). Drizzle with the sauce and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • Double-Coat the Chicken: For extra crispy chicken, dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, dip it back into the buttermilk, and then coat it in the flour mixture again before frying.
