Description

French Dip Biscuits are a delightful twist on the classic French Dip sandwich. These savory biscuits are packed with tender beef, melted cheese, and aromatic herbs, all baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a cozy dinner or a hearty lunch, these biscuits are sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
  • 1 tube (7.5 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: chopped fresh parsley, additional shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: Add the onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the Seasonings: Stir in the thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
  5. Assemble the Biscuits: Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Pour the beef consommé over the top. Arrange the biscuit dough on top of the beef mixture.
  6. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the biscuits.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Let the biscuits cool for a few minutes, then serve with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use Fresh Herbs: Whenever possible, use fresh herbs for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the Seasoning: Taste the beef mixture as it cooks and adjust the seasoning as needed. You might want to add more salt, pepper, or other spices to suit your taste.
  • Customize the Cheese: Feel free to mix in different types of cheese for a unique flavor profile.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the beef mixture up to a day in advance. Just store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
