  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, chives, bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Scrub the potatoes clean and pat them dry.
    • Poke each potato several times with a fork.
    • Rub the potatoes with 1 tbsp of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
    • Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  2. Smash the Potatoes:

    • Once the potatoes are baked, cut them in half lengthwise.

    • Drizzle the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil over the smashed potatoes and season with additional salt and pepper if desired.

    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the burger patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness.
    • In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese and let it melt.
  5. Assemble the Baked Potato Smash Burgers:

    • Place a burger patty on top of each smashed potato.
    • Add your favorite toppings such as sour cream, chives, and bacon bits.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!
